1958 - Buddy Holly & The Crickets set out on their first and only UK tour in London.

1963 - Chubby Checker hosted a “Limbo Party” at San Francisco’s Cow Palace. Performers included Marvin Gaye, The Four Seasons, The Crystals, Lou Christie, Dick & Dee Dee, Paul & Paula, and Herb Alpert & Tijuana Brass.

1964 - The Beatles got started on their film Hard Day’s Night with director Richard Lester in London.

1967 - The Mamas & The Papas scored the Best Contemporary Group Performance Grammy for their classic, “Monday Monday.”

1985 - Phil CollinsNo Jacket Required was the No. 1 album in the UK.

1999 - For the first time in over 25 years, Neil Young launched a completely solo tour with a gig in Vancouver, B.C.

1999 - Bob Dylan opened the Las Vegas House of Blues. U2 singer Bono joined the songwriter on “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door’.

2002 - Jerry Lee Lewis decided not to attend his induction to the Delta Music Hall of Fame because he wasn’t pleased with the plane that was sent to pick him up.
