1970 - London police closed an exhibition of John Lennon’s lithographs because they claimed the exhibit was obscene.

1979 - Cher and then-husband Greg Allman were divorced.

1983 - Men at Work took the No. 1 spot on the charts with “Down Under.” The song held the top spot for three weeks, dipped for a few days and then retook No. 1 again for another week.

1996 - Having already eclipsed any other performer on the strip for sheer number of concerts, Wayne Newton made history when he performed his 25,000th show in Las Vegas.
